Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Bear’s Bakery (“we”, “us”) is a home cake business based in Queenstown, New Zealand. This policy explains what information we collect through bearsbakery.co.nz, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information you give us

When you place an order or use the contact form, we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, your message or order details (cake, options, pickup time, and any notes such as allergies). This information is sent to us as an email (delivered by Mailgun, our email provider) so we can respond to you and prepare your order. The website itself does not keep a database of your submissions.

We keep order correspondence for as long as we need it for bookings, record keeping, and tax obligations, then delete it.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, which cakes are popular, how people found us), and we may use Google Ads to advertise and to measure whether our ads lead to enquiries. These services use cookies and similar technologies. For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, these cookies are disabled by default.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.

Protecting our forms

Our order and contact forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that submissions come from people rather than bots. Turnstile may process technical information about your browser and connection to make that decision.

Embedded content

Our home page embeds a Facebook reviews widget provided by Elfsight. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the provider’s own site and may set its own cookies. The website is served through Cloudflare, which processes connection data to deliver and secure the site.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond promptly. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
