Jinx, Hand-Painted in Sugar

For this League of Legends-inspired creation, I kept the cake itself deliberately bold but relatively restrained so that all attention could fall on Jinx.

The figure was sculpted entirely by hand using a specialist edible modelling paste. Unlike ordinary sugar paste, it remains workable without softening too quickly or drying before the finest details can be completed. That gave me time to form her expression, braids, clothing, jewellery and tiny painted tattoos with far greater precision.

Once sculpted, the figure was painted by hand in edible colour to bring her as close as possible to the original character. Translucent crimson sugar work, chocolate rubble and painted graffiti completed the scene around her.

Inside was a moist, multilayered chocolate cake with a soft, carefully balanced texture – a more refined experience than a traditional dense mud cake. The shape was simple; the many hours of work were concentrated in the completely edible character standing above it.
